What is Alopecia?
Alopecia is a scientific term used to describe baldness or hair loss leading to a decrease in volume and density of hair.
What Are The Types of Alopecia For Hair?
Fluctuations in level of male hormones leading to receding hair line and thinning of hair at the crown of head this is called male pattern baldness. In female pattern baldness, there is a thinning of hair over the top of head. The baldness that occurs in patches in different areas of scalp is called areata alopecia. If there is scar tissue on scalp due to injury, lichen planus etc, hair follicles are totally destroyed in these areas leading to bald patches.

The reason behind alopecia might be autoimmune as in, alopecia areata. Other factors that can contribute towards baldness are; allergies, irritation, burns, some sort of injury, infection & infestation from ring worms, use of expired hair products, harsh handling of hair while washing, combing and hair styling. As a side effect of certain medications like steroids. Hair loss is also a major side effect at radiation & chemotherapy. Hair loss could also indicate towards some underlying disease like: vitamin deficiency, vitamin A overdose, iron deficiency anemia and malfunctioning thyroid gland. Pregnancy and menopause are also many a times, associated with hair loss, too.

1. Onion juice
As unbelievable as it may sound, Onion juice can actually help those suffering from alopecia hair loss/ baldness. Onions have a high concentration of Sulphur, which stimulates your hair follicles and also causes an increased production of collagen. Squeeze out the juice of Red Onions and dip a cotton ball into it. Apply the concentrated juice on your scalp focusing more on the bald patches. This should be left on the scalp for 25 to 30 minutes. Rinse off with water and then use a mild shampoo and conditioner, well suited to your hair type to get rid of the smell. This hair treatment has to be repeated several times, a week.
2. Apple cider vinegar
This remedy is great to help in regrowing your hair by clarifying your scalp. Actually, it helps in getting rid of all the product build up from your scalp which in turn helps the other remedies you are using to work more effectively since a clean scalp with unclogged pores is able to absorb nutrients better from all the hair care products. It also helps in hair regrowth by maintaining the proper acid-base ie. Ph balance of your scalp. This needs to be used in a diluted form with nearly 75 ml of apple cider vinegar dissolved in 1 litre of water. This solution can then be used to rinse and condition your hair as a last rinse after you are done with shampoo.
3. Egg Hair Packs
Eggs are really rich in many minerals that are helpful to bring about growth of hair. Egg packs are rich in high levels of proteins as well as a number of minerals, including, sulphur, zinc, iron, selenium, phosphorous and iodine. The combined effect of all these is quite effective in treating baldness. You can prepare a hair pack by mixing contents of one egg with any hair oil like: Coconut oil/ castor oil/ olive oil or Almond oil. Lastly, add some honey to your hair pack and mix really well. This rich hair pack has to be applied on scalp, roots of hair and along the lengths of hair to treat baldness as well as boost up the shine and get super soft texture of hair.

4. Fenugreek/ Methi Danaa:
Dip some mehi danaa in water overnight and form a paste out of it in morning. You can add some oil and coconut milk as a medium for forming a paste out of soaked fenugreek seeds. Apply this on your scalp and hair for half an hour and then wash off with a mild/ herbal shampoo. This hair pack would help in stimulating hair regrowth, prevent premature graying of hair and also controlling hair fall to a good extent.
5. Potato Juice for Hair
Potato is rich in starch along with certain vital vitamins like vit.A, Vit B complex and Vit.C. Apply juice from a potato to your scalp with the help of a cotton ball and leave on till try. This natural Potato based hair remedy would help to prevent thinning of your hair and also help in regrowth of hair.
6. Henna or mehendi powder
Henna powder is made by powdering the dried leaves of Henna plant acts as a safe and natural hair conditioner as well as colour booster. It helps in preventing baldness by strengthening the roots of your hair strands. Stronger roots implies, lesser hair fall. You can use henna powder for hair re–growth by mixing henna powder with equal parts Amla/ Indian gooseberry powder and shikaki powder.
To form a paste, you can use little quantities of almond oil, some fresh yoghurt and coconut milk to make a thick paste. Apply this hair pack on your hair & scalp to improve the quality and texture of hair. 7. Black pepper
Black pepper, also known as Cayenne pepper is a common kitchen spice that would help in growth of new hair. This is also very beneficial to those suffering from the problem of dandruff. Applying, Cayenne pepper hair masks on scalp and hair helps in dealing with thinning out of your hair strands, which are more prone to breakage while you shampoo or brush your hair, leading too hair volume getting less and less dense. Capsaicin is a substance present in Black pepper that stimulates the & encourages the blood circulation in scalp region & consequently, nutrients reaching to the scalp.
