Tsihaye Reda Haddish, an Eritrean immigrant, was her father, while her mother, Leola, is of African-American descent. Haddish is the oldest of five half-brothers and sisters. Haddish blames her stepfather for her mother’s accident. After the accident, Haddish’s mother suffered from schizophrenia, and would be abusive and violent.

Haddish and her siblings were placed in social services after their mother’s accident. To cope up in the state’s care system, she would often entertain other people to save herself from being bullied. Her grandfather reared her and her siblings later on. She enjoyed entertaining since she was a child and would characterize herself as amusing.
