Nicole was born with the name Nicole Prescovia Elikolani Valiente, but since her mother married Gary Scherzinger, she took her stepfather’s surname.

Nicole’s biological father, Alfonso Valiente, is of Filipino descent, and her mother, Rosemary Elikolani, belongs of Hawaiian and Ukrainian ancestry. When Nicole was a baby, her parents separated. She doesn’t remember anything about her biological father, who left her when she was only a few months old.
