American actress, producer and director, Vera Farmiga was born on 6th August 1973, in Clifton, New Jersey, U.S. The 48 years old actress was a Ukrainian Greek who later converted to Pentecostalism. Her father, Michael Farmiga is a systems analyst-turned-landscaper. Her mother, Lubomyra is also known as Luba, was a schoolteacher.

According to Vera, she is a 100% Ukrainian American as she was raised in an insular Ukrainian American community. Her native language is Ukrainian and she didn’t learn English until the age of six.

• Vera started her career in the American Conservatory Theater’s production theatre as Miranda in the play The Tempest. Later, she was cast as a member of The Barrow Group in New York City. Later that year, she also appeared as Catlin in an adventure series Roar, alongside Heath Ledger and Sebastian Roché.
