Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon was born on March 22, 1976, in New Orleans, Louisiana, U.S. She is an American actress and producer and is ranked among the highest-paid actresses worldwide. Her father John Draper Witherspoon, was born in Georgia and was a lieutenant in the U.S Army Reserve. Later, he decided to join Tulane University medical school and become a student.

Her mother Mary Elizabeth Witherspoon was a professor at Vanderbilt University. She taught nursing and had a PhD in pediatric nursing.
