The Friendship Day History:

The first Sunday in August is Friendship Day all over the world. It is a day when friends meet their closest buddies and when everyone celebrates the beautiful and pure bond of friendship.

When is Friendship Day

Even though Friendship Day is celebrated worldwide, it originates from the United States of America. In the year 1935, the US Congress came to a decision of dedicating a single day in the year in honor of friends and the bond of friendship. 1935 was a time when countries were being torn apart by the effects of World War II, and people were suffering. Dedicating a day to the importance of friendship helped bring back some semblance of normality and strength to the people who had lost family and friends to the war. As a result, the US Congress declared that the first Sunday in the month of August would be celebrated as Friendship Day. There was an official declaration in 1935, and the first Sunday in August became a day for friends and friendship. Initially, the first Sunday of the month of August was an annual event and National Friendship Day. With time, it was not limited to the United States of America, as more countries got involved. Today, people celebrate the day with much joy and fanfare all over the world. In 1997, the United Nations named popular cartoon character Winnie the Pooh as the world’s Ambassador of Friendship.

Help your kids bake a cake for their friends. You can help your little one make a special music folder for his friends and email it to them.
Call a radio channel or music TV channel that your kids love and let them dedicate a track to their friends.
