Everyone loves flawless skin but external factors like pollution, sun rays, and pimples, cause acne and leave behind dark spots. Makeup products can mask up these spots but if you want to get rid of them permanently, it is better to try some homemade face masks, which are described in the next section.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Turmeric for Dark Spots

1. Apple Cider Vinegar and Turmeric Mask


Process: Combine the ingredients to form a paste that won’t drip on applying to the face. On a clean face with no makeup, apply the mixture by avoiding contact with the eyes. Let it remain for 15 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.

Benefits: Turmeric has natural bleaching and anti-inflammatory properties that have a soothing impact on the skin and makes the skin spotless. Apple cider vinegar has antibacterial characteristics which kill acne-causing bacteria.

Tip: Turmeric might make your skin appear pale temporarily but with a cleansing oil, you can remove this yellow hue.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar

Process: Combine equal amounts of apple cider vinegar and water in a bowl and apply the mixture to the dark spots. Leave it for 5-7 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water.

Benefits: The acetic acid in apple cider vinegar lightens the skin pigmentation and enhances skin appearance.

3. Turmeric and Honey Face Mask

This mixture is known to have anti-microbial and soothing characteristics of honey along with the skin brightening effects of turmeric.


  • Turmeric-1 tablespoon
  • Natural honey-2 tablespoon

Process of using: Mix both ingredients and apply them to the face. This needs to be left for about 20 minutes before washing off with some warm water. This can be done 2-3 times a week.

4. Apple Cider Vinegar and Besan Mask


  • Apple cider vinegar- 1tbsp
  • Honey- 1 tsp
  • Besan- 1 tbsp
  • Rosewater- 1 tsp

Process: Add the ingredients to a bowl and mix well. Apply it to the face using a brush or your fingers, avoiding contact with the eyes. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then scrub the face with a little amount of normal water. You can use it twice a week for the best results. Natural masks are effective in reducing the dark spots but this takes time so you need to use them regularly instead of switching to the chemical-based makeup and other products for reducing dark spots.
