Homemade Body Scrub – Benefits & Recipes for Smooth and Radiant Skin




Regular exfoliation is important to achieve smooth, even toned, clear, radiant, bright, glowing, and beautiful skin. While there are a lot of body scrubs out there, these organic scrubs are more nourishing as they contain natural ingredients. Dig deep and find out the best one:

1. Coconut Sugar Oatmeal Body Scrub

Coconut sugar oatmeal scrub removes flaky skin and enhances skin renewing cells. Also, it softens and moisturizes the skin well due to its anti-inflammatory properties.

Things required:

  • 3 tbsp of coconut oil
  • ½ cup brown or white sugar
  • ¼ cup raw oats

How to do: Mix all the ingredients together properly until smooth. Use the scrub over your body, massage with your fingers and get nice results. Make sure to use this day scrub in a day as the oats become too soft otherwise. You have to make this scrub daily as it cannot be stored.

2. Honey Lemon Scrub

Lemon and honey scrub exfoliate and absorb skin impurities as well as provide hydration.

Things required:

  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • One lemon juice

How to do: Combine all the ingredients in a jar and mix well until you get a smooth paste. And that’s it. Massage your body and get good results.

3. Avocado Honey Body Scrub

Avocado is rich in antioxidants and vitamins which are nourishing for the body. When avocado is mixed with honey, it becomes an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory solution for the body.

Things required:

  • 3 tsp honey
  • ½ whole avocado
  • 2 tsp of cornmeal

How to do: Mash the avocado and mix other ingredients in a bowl. Apply this scrub on the body and massage gently on damp skin. Wash off with warm water after properly massaging your body.

4. Chocolate Sugar Body Scrub

When skin needs hydration, chocolate sugar scrub is your go to solution. It contains vitamins B1, C, and E that are required by the body in a great amount.

Things required:

  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to do: Mix all the ingredients together until smooth. Put it in a small jar and use this scrub all over your body in the morning to remove dead skin cells. It smells heaven!

5. Banana Brown Sugar Scrub

Bananas are intensely gentle and moisturizing and this scrub is loaded with potassium, vitamins A, B6, and C.

Things required:

  • 1 banana
  • 80 grams of organic brown sugar

How to do: Peel the banana and cut into small pieces. Put it in a jar with organic brown sugar and mash it until smooth. Once you get nice thickness, apply it over your body and rub to remove dead skin. Using this natural body scrub will do wonders in improving your body texture.

6. Coffee Brown Sugar Body Scrub

Coffee is a natural ingredient that is used in making face scrubs and body scrubs. Since the products available in the market contain preservatives, why don’t you make one at home? Coffee rejuvenates your skin, removes dead skin cells, improves blood circulation and reduces cellulite.

Things required:

  • ¼ cup coconut oil
  • ½ cup coffee grounds
  • ¼ cup brown sugar

How to do: Mix all the ingredients together and put it in an airtight jar. Now use it every morning before taking shower. Rub it over the body and massage for 2-3 minutes. Wait for 3 minutes and rinse off to get glowing skin.

7. Oatmeal Honey Yogurt Body Scrub

Oatmeal and yogurt when mixed delivers a great combination of benefits. Since yogurt contains lactic acid, it exfoliates the skin gently enough.

Things required:

  • 2 tbsp oats
  • 1 tbsp sunflower seeds
  • 4 tbsp of yogurt
  • 2 tsp of warm honey

How to do: Blend oats and sunflower seeds until smooth and add yoghurt and warm honey. Mix well and massage your face, neck, and body properly to remove dead skin. Leave it on for 3-4 minutes and then rinse off thoroughly.

8. Cream and Almond Body Scrub

To get deep exfoliation, cream and almond body scrub is quite powerful. With the soothing benefits of oatmeal and cream, your body will get that much needed pampering.

Things required:

  • ¼ cup oats
  • 2 tbsp almond meal
  • ½ cup of heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp of honey

How to do: Blend the oats until fine and mix all the ingredients together to get fine consistency. Apply it over your face and body to get maximum benefits. Let it sit for 3-4 minute and rinse off the lukewarm or warm water.

9. Raspberry Lemon Sugar Scrub

It is a great exfoliator that helps in revitalizing and rejuvenating your skin. Plus, you will get even skin tone and radiant complexion.

Things required:

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup organic coconut oil
  • 1/8 tsp raspberry extract
  • 1/8 tsp lemon extract

How to do: Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and see what more you can add depending on your liking. Put it in a jar and place in a freezer for 30 minutes to get nice consistency. Rub the scrub over the hands, feet, and whole body to get moisturized skin. This sugar body scrub reduces fine lines and wrinkles as well.

10. Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub

Vanilla and brown sugar works wonders for your skin and pretty easy to make as well. Prepare this quick body scrub by using:

Things required:

  • 1 tsp real vanilla extract
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ tsp vitamin E oil
  • 1 cup brown sugar

How to do: Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl and depending on the consistency, you can add more or less oil. Store it in an airtight jar and use it on regular basis. You can store it for a month or two as it will not expire. Take out a small amount of this scrub and rub over your body. Let it sit for 5 minutes and rinse off.
