How to Use Olive oil for Scalp Problems?




 A healthy scalp is very important as it ensures the good health of your hair as well. However, it is not an easy task given the increasing pollution every day. We need to go out every day and that affects our hair and scalp. You can always opt for the costly skin clinics for a scalp treatment, but you can also try some easy remedies at home. A common ingredient that is an answer to all major scalp problems is olive oil. It is very useful in nourishing the scalp. Given below are some common methods of using olive oil for scalp problems.

What Does Olive oil do for Your Hair and Scalp?

If you doubt the healing powers of olive oil then you need to go through the following points for assurance. It explains why you can rely on olive oil to heal your scalp

  • It contains mono-saturated fatty acids. It coats the hair and the scalp and protects it from drying
  • It is antibacterial and anti fungal in nature. It kills the microbes that cause dandruff.
  • It acts as a natural moisturizer with high content of Vitamin E. it moisturizes the scalp and stops the hair from breaking
  • It acts as a protective barrier on the skin and protects it from germs and microbes that harm the hair and scalp
  • It effectively removes any build-up of dead cells, dust greasiness or any other impurities.
  • It acts as a natural conditioner and makes the hair shiny.
  • It nourishes the hair making it healthy and soft.

How to Use Olive oil for Scalp:

1. Tea Tree Oil and olive Oil for Scalp:

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of tea tree oil

Procedure:

  • Mix together the two oils.
  • Ensure that they mix properly
  • Gently massage this entire oil mixture onto your scalp.
  • Let it rest on your head for 3 to 4 hours
  • You can let the oil rest overnight
  • Wash it off using your regular shampoo
  • Repeat regularly for a healthy scalp

Benefit: Tea tree oil is anti-fungal and antimicrobial in nature that heals the scalp.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar and Olive oil for Scalp:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of olive oil
  • ½ cup of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup of water

Procedure:

  • Warm the olive oil
  • Gently massage the entire oil onto the scalp
  • Cover your hair with a shower cap.
  • Let the oil rest on your hair for 2 hours
  • Wash it off with your regular shampoo
  • Mix the apple cider vinegar and water
  • Condition your hair with this mixture
  • Repeat regularly

3. Brown Sugar and Olive Oil for Scalp:

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

Procedure:

  • In a bowl mix the olive oil and brown sugar.
  • Make a smooth paste
  • Apply this paste onto your scalp using your fingers
  • Gently massage your head with this paste
  • Let it rest for an hour
  • Rinse with lukewarm water
  • Wash with your shampoo and cold water.
  • Repeat 4 times a week

4. Rosemary and Olive Oil for Scalp:

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of Rosemary oil

Procedure:

  • Mix together the olive oil and rosemary oil.
  • Ensure that they mix properly
  • Gently massage this entire oil mixture onto your scalp.
  • Let it rest on your head for 3 to 4 hours
  • You can let the oil rest overnight
  • Wash it off using your regular shampoo
  • Repeat regularly for a healthy scalp

Benefit: Rosemary helps to clear the dandruff, itchiness and inflammation.

5. Olive Oil and Baking Soda for Scalp:

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup of olive oil
  • 3 teaspoons of baking soda
  • Yolk of one egg

Procedure:

  • Warm the olive oil and add the yolk
  • Ensure that they mix properly
  • Next add the baking soda and mix it to a smooth blend
  • Take it off the heat and let it cool a while
  • Gently massage this entire mixture into your scalp.
  • Let it rest on your head for 30 minutes
  • Wash it off using your regular shampoo
  • Repeat 3 times a week

Benefit: Baking soda helps to exfoliate the scalp and keeps it clean.

These are some of the methods of using olive oil to get a healthy scalp. If you are allergic to any of the ingredients, you can use any of the other remedies mentioned. If your scalp condition does not improve at all then consult a dermatologist.
