Carey Mulligan is a British actress who was born on May 28, 1985, in Westminster London. Her father, Stephen Mulligan is a university manager and her mother is from Llandeilo, Wales, and Carey also has Irish and English ancestry.

According to Carey, her passion for acting was first kindled at her old school Woldingham School, where she took part in a school production of “Sweet Charity” in her final year, and where she was also a student head of drama. At age 17, she applied to three London drama schools instead of the universities she was expected to apply to but was not invited to attend them.
